Born From A Need

HANAN began with a simple need I couldn't find on the market.

As a breastfeeding mother, I wanted an abaya that gave me full, effortless coverage while allowing me to breastfeed comfortably and discreetly.

Too often, breastfeeding in an abaya can mean having to lift the garment from the bottom, making feeding awkward and compromising the sense of coverage and modesty we value.

I searched for something that felt genuinely modest, feminine and elegant — with nursing access that was practical, discreet and completely concealed within the design.

I couldn't find it.
So I decided to create it.

Designed With Intention

At the heart of every HANAN abaya is a concealed opening, secured with discreet press buttons or zip.

When closed, the opening becomes part of the abaya's cut. Nothing is visible, and nothing takes away from the silhouette.

When needed, it opens to provide comfortable nursing access.

Made For Every Woman

Although HANAN was born from the experience of breastfeeding, it was never intended to be only for breastfeeding mothers.

It is for any woman who appreciates an abaya that is beautifully cut, thoughtfully made and designed to last.

The nursing opening doesn't change the way the abaya looks or defines the piece. It simply gives you an option — something there when you need it, and seamlessly part of the design when you don't.

The short version

Right now HANAN is a waiting list and nothing more. If you join it we hold your first name, your last name if you gave one, your email address, and your answers to two short questions about what you are looking for. We use them to email you when early access opens, and after that to send the occasional update.

We do not sell your details, we do not share them with other brands, and we do not run advertising or analytics trackers on this site. You can leave the list at any time from the link at the bottom of every email.

1. Who we are

HANAN is a modest-wear label designed in London, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described in this policy — meaning we decide what is collected and why.

2. What we collect, and why

Everything below comes from the waiting-list form. There is no account to create, no basket to check out, and no payment to take, because nothing is for sale yet.

• First name (required) — so our emails can greet you properly.
• Last name (optional) — only if you choose to give it.
• Email address (required) — this is how we tell you the collection has launched. It is the whole point of the list.
• Which collections interest you (optional) — everyday, occasion, or neither. It helps us decide what to make first and what to write to you about.
• Whether nursing access matters to you (required) — a question about the garment feature you want, not about you or your body. We ask because the concealed nursing opening is the design decision at the centre of this brand and we need to know how many of you want it.
• Your consent — we record that you ticked the box, and when, because we have to be able to show that you asked to hear from us.

We do not ask for your address, your date of birth, your phone number or your payment details, and you should be suspicious of anyone claiming to be us who does.

3. Our lawful basis

We rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. You give it by ticking the box on the waiting-list form; nothing is pre-ticked, and the form will not submit without it.

Because consent is our basis, you can withdraw it whenever you like, and withdrawing is meant to be as easy as giving it was. Doing so does not make anything we did beforehand unlawful, but it stops us going any further.

4. Who else touches your information

Three services are involved in running this site. None of them is permitted to use your details for their own purposes.

• MailerLite — the email platform that stores the waiting list and sends the emails. When you submit the form, your answers go to MailerLite directly. They act as our processor, under contract, on our instructions.
• Cloudflare — hosts this website. Like any web host it processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type in order to serve the page and keep the site up.
• Google Fonts — the typefaces on this page are requested from Google's servers, so your IP address is visible to Google when the page loads. This happens on page load, not at sign-up, and it happens whether or not you join the list.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it of us. Beyond that, no one else sees it.

5. Information leaving the UK

The providers above operate internationally, so your details may be stored or processed outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law recognises — an adequacy decision, or contractual terms such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your details on the waiting list until one of these happens:

• you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them — we act on that promptly; or
• the list has been dormant for 24 months with no launch and no contact from you — at which point we delete it, because a stale mailing list helps nobody.

We keep a minimal record of an unsubscribe request itself, so that we can honour it and not add you back by mistake.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• be told what we hold and ask for a copy of it;
• have it corrected if it is wrong;
• have it erased;
• restrict or object to what we do with it;
• take it elsewhere in a portable form;
• withdraw your consent at any time; and
• complain to the regulator.

To use any of these, email hanan.Tmodesty@gmail.com. We will respond within one month, and we will not charge you for it. We may ask you to confirm your identity first — only so that we do not hand your details to somebody else.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

8. Leaving the list

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link in the footer. One click and you are off the list; you do not have to give a reason and we will not email you to ask for one. If the link ever fails you, email us and we will remove you by hand.

9. Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no session tracking and no profiling of any kind. The short film on the home page is served from our own site, so watching it does not report back to anybody.

If that ever changes — and if we add analytics one day, it will — we will ask for your permission first and update this page before we switch anything on.

10. Children

This site is meant for adults and we do not knowingly collect details from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has joined the list, tell us and we will remove them.

11. Keeping it safe

The site is served over an encrypted connection and the waiting list sits behind access controls at MailerLite. No system is perfect, but we hold as little as we can — which is the most effective protection there is.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and move the date at the top. If the change is a significant one, and we hold your email address, we will tell you by email rather than hope you noticed.
